Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

At Harmonize Chiropractic, we proudly serve the Charlottesville community as a cash based wellness office. We do not work directly with insurance providers, but if you have chiropractic coverage, we will gladly provide you with the necessary documentation to get reimbursed if you’re willing to file yourself. We accept HSA and FSA forms of payment in our office and always welcome open and honest conversations about finances. Many individuals and families that we work with use our care as a preventative wellness measure. Not working with insurance companies allows us to provide individualized care that isn’t dictated by insurance companies.

How much does the initial visit cost?

Our initial visit consists of a neuro-spinal functional analysis and the first adjustment (unless x-rays are needed, then the first adjustment will be on the 2nd visit). This first visit takes approximately 1 hour. The cost of the full exam, first adjustment, and doctors report is $180. At the second visit we will make a recommendation on care and take about different options moving forward.

Why should I get my child checked by a chiropractor?

We love seeing little ones at Harmonize Chiropractic. Chiropractic adjustments are both gentle and specific to the child’s developing spine and nervous system. We recommend that children be checked from birth. All births whether long or short, natural, assisted or cesarean can put a lot of pressure on your baby’s spinal cord and nervous system. Even the baby’s position in the womb can have an early effect on spinal alignment. When these tiny infants begin to grow, learn to crawl, and eventually walk, freshly developed motor patterns often lead to numerous slips/falls, bumps, and bruises. Chiropractic adjustments are very supportive in helping kids adapt and be in alignment through these fast changing years.

I’m pregnant is it safe to get adjusted?

Absolutely. We have special pillows and tables to create ease for pregnant women to get adjusted throughout all stages of pregnancy. Getting adjusted can create better birth outcomes, easier, faster labors, and optimal positioning and nerve supply for baby as he/she grows and develops. Got pain? Chiropractic care can help prevent discomfort like sciatica and round ligament pain for mommies whose bodies are changing too.

If I don’t have back pain, why would I see a Chiropractor?

Chiropractic care has been known to help many different kind of aliments - colds, headaches, anxiety, inflammation, arthritis, disc problems, hearing problems, skin problems, ear infections, hormonal issues, high blood pressure, colic - the list is long. The key to Chiropractic care is that it doesn’t treat the condition itself, it affects the body as a whole, whether you are suffering or not. Chiropractic care is founded on vitalstic principles that supports the body’s natural healing ability through cultivating proper spinal alignment and mobility which removes tension from the nervous system. This promotes the bodies natural self-healing, self-regulating ability by allowing the energetic signals traveling back and forth from the brain and body to flow with ease.

Why am I still experiencing pain after my first adjustment?

Immediately following your initial adjusting session you will likely feel one of three things: better, no initial change or a little worse for a moment while your body is healing and undergoing changes. Each adjustment is likely to increase awareness and initiate change within your body that may take hours or even days to fully integrate. This form of body work is a lot like starting a new gym routine. There is a re-training of the body that needs to take place in order for you to move better and function better and that takes time. With some initial consistency, the skeletal structure, muscles, connective tissue will adapt and evolve into better movement, function, and connection.

If I go to a Chiropractor once, will I have to go forever?

At Harmonize Chiropractic, we want you to utilize this type of health care for as long as it is serving you. Most of our community continues coming back simply because of the incredible changes they’ve experienced in their lives and in the lives of those they love. Your Chiropractor may recommend continual care and it’s likely because they understand the impact; that the adjustment removes interference between the brain and the body. When there is a clear channel of communication within the nervous system, our bodies freely release stress, unwind, integrate experiences, detoxify, adapt and convey our fullest expression of health.
